DRAGONBOARD

Dragonboard is an exceptionally high quality mineral based building board, that includes the strategic use of glass fibre reinforcement layers, that gives the board exceptional strength and properties. The standard production material is very smooth on one side and textured on the other. It comes in a range of standard panel sizes, (or bespoke to order) and in thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 25mm square, tapered, and shiplap joints are available. Dragonboard may be cut, trimmed or shaped using ordinary power or hand tools.

Properties & Uses

No other construction board possess the following attributes in a SINGLE board.
Dragonboard is a fire proof board of superior performance it is immensely strong and durable, making it the ideal material for use in lift shaft type linings.

It is currently in use throughout the USA, Asia, UK and Ireland as a cladding material to give fire resistance to steel structures, as well as for use in fire walls and partitions. The board is non combustible in terms of Building Regulations, and a zero smoke and flame rating.

A Dragonboard partition, comprising 12mm Dragonboard lining panels on lightweight steel frame, insulated with mineral wool, has achieved a 1 Hour Fire Resistance Test in accordance with BS EN 1364-1:1999 Test Report No. 248065

Dragonboard is completely waterproof, and will not disintegrate when immersed in water, or exposed to freeze/thaw cycles for prolonged periods of time, and does not swell.

It provides superior moisture resistance in high humidity areas and combats the growth of mildew and mould. Yet the whole time Dragonboard is breathable.

Dragonboard is immensely strong and stable, and as such it can be used in rigorous environments, making it ideal for

  • Structural sheathing for wood or steel stud walls
  • External facing material for other structural panels, with or without applied finishes.
  • Backing board for tiled surfaces in Kitchen, Bathrooms and showers
  • Floor decks

With precision cut, jointing and sealing of boards on internal wall and floor surfaces and joints, the board effectively tanks the internal surfaces, rendering them both air and water tight. As such the board is ideal for use in buildings in FLOOD risk areas, by allowing rapid recovery by pressure washing and cleaning. The surfaces dry out within days leaving them ready for new applied finishes.

It makes the perfect board for use in retrofits of houses already suffering from flooding.
The textured face when exposed on external sheathing is ideal for the application of applied finishes, including all render systems.
The smooth face is exposed internally, and is self finished, and requires NO SKIM. Joints are filled with a proprietary board filler and sanded smooth, ready for applied paint or paper finish.
